Ok, now I have time to explain

Let's try again.

First, you sign up for the other blog, by going to this post and following the instructions.

Then, you will receive an invitation at the email you provided. It will come from Blogger, not from me.

In the invitation, there will be a link. You follow the link and do whatever it tells you.

Then, when you want to read the blog, you have to both sign in and go to the blog URL. Signing in will take you to your account. Then you still have to go to trucksandthecity.blogspot.com.

You can add the link to your favourites, that way it will be really easy to find. You can't add it to your reader, because private feeds aren't supported.

Well, now we know

While I'm killing time online trying to see if PayPal will unlock my funds if I log in enough times a day, I looked into the feed reader problem. And it says this:

Google Reader doesn't currently support authentication for private feeds that require a username and password to view. Such feeds will appear to be empty or missing if you try to subscribe to them.
I haven't looked at everyone else's feed readers, but that's how it is. Sorry it's a nuisance.

Sign up to read my real blog

My regular blog is by invitation only. In order to receive an invitation, you must leave a comment on this blog, including the following information:

  1. your name - no initials or aliases, you're gonna have to leave your real name, first and last;

  2. your email address, which is how you will receive your invitation;

  3. your email address, again, because there have been typos in some of the sign-ups;

  4. your email address a third time as a tie-breaker between the first two;

  5. your IP address, which you can find out by going to whatsmyip.org; and

  6. how you found out about my blog.
You will need a Blogger or OpenID account to leave a comment here, and you will need it on the real blog as well. None of the comments on this blog will be published, obviously, however your personal information will be retained so I can hold you accountable if you make a nuisance of yourself on the other blog.

If you are related to me, you will not get an invitation. I will get a new family-oriented blog going, as soon as I can think of a format.

Anyone with an IP anywhere in Canada's territories, except Megan and Natalie, will also provide the following:

  1. the name of your employer;

  2. your job title;

  3. your work and home phone numbers;

  4. your SIN;

  5. all the information on your birth certificate;

  6. a statement authorizing the author of this blog to publish all your personal information or use it in any other way I see fit, including to your detriment;

  7. and a convincing statement of why you should be trusted to read my blog.
Again, your personal information is my hostage to ensure your continued good behaviour. Submitting this information, however, does not guarantee that I will invite you to my blog.

Yes, I sent your invitation

I have sent invitations to everyone who asked for one. If you did not receive an invitation, either Google ate your sign-up comment, or there was a typo in your email address. Either way, you'll have to try again.

Also, any sign-ups after the moment I post this comment will not be approved until I get back from France.

Seriously, I don't have time for this

I hate to be abrupt with you people but I have one hour of internet access a day and I have things to do, like deal with the France nonsense and LOOK FOR A JOB, and I really don't have time to troubleshoot problems. There should not BE any problems if you've read and followed the instructions. If you haven't read and followed the instructions, here they are again: leave a comment on this blog with the information I asked for, then Blogger will send you an email, then you FOLLOW THE LINK IN THE INVITATION and do whatever Blogger tells you to do. It works. If it's not working for you, try following the instructions again. There's nothing I can do to make it work other than that.

I have no idea why

People who read Trucks and the City through feed readers are not getting the feed even after getting their invitation.

I have no idea why or how to fix it, however, two things.

First, try adding the subscription to your feeder again after you accept the invitation. (Make sure you do accept the invitation, i.e. click the link in the email you got. Just getting the email, per se, does not give you the ability to read the blog.)

Second, something in Blogger went wrong the last few days, I don't know at what level, but my own feed reader (Google) has not picked up any new posts from T&C since the 16th.

I could ask them for help, except I've been much too busy with much more stressful things, and also, there is no Google help, just a bulletin board of the blind leading the blind.

In conclusion, if you're not getting T&C through your feed reader, I have no idea how to help you.

Yes, you are invited

Reader-submitted comment: "Yikes. This is intimidating, and I'm nervous that I won't be deemed "cool" enough to join the party."

Everyone's invited, unless you're related to me or you live in Canada's territories and you're not Megan or Natalie with the chihuahuas. The main reasons people are not invited to my blog are a) they're related to me or b) they're stupid and/or mean-tempered and I don't care to have any communication with them. "Cool" is not necessary.

Everyone who has requested an invitation so far will be invited. Invitations will be sent once the other blog is locked.
